Drew Barrymore struggled with bipolar disorder. She abused drugs and alcohol and after leaving drug rehab in 1989 at the age of 14, she tried to kill herself, but received treatment and successfuly kicked the habit. In an explanation of her battle with depression Drew has said, “I pray to be like the ocean, with soft currents, maybe waves at times.
More and more, I want the consistency rather than the highs and the lows.”
